Very briefly.

In what way is my offer different? I will always attempt to, and in most cases succeed, to make sense of the text at hand, in both the original language and the target language.

My experience is that the drafting skills of original writers vary a lot. Your customer wants perfection!

I am a technical nuts-and-bolts person. If you give me a manual, a contract, a patent to translate, I will make every effort to understand the process myself before translating it. Put myself in the shoes of the end user of the text, if you will. For me, then, translation is not just a row of words. There is somebody there who needs that text. Be it a manual that is necessary to use equipment safely, be it a contract or other legal document that must have the effect desired and contemplated by the parties.

With this in mind, you will easily see that I cannot be the cheapest, nor the most productive in terms of sheer word output. My job is to do a certain amount of thinking. I also like to work in concert with the client and even with the end user, because that person his/her own subject matter best. Also, we are all only human and we can forget and overlook. Two pairs of eyes see more than just one pair.

Excellent command of the language as such goes without saying.
